This basketball, presented to Mayor Lugar, contains the following dedication: "Mayor Richard Lugar A True Downtown Optimist." This artifact may have related to Mayor Lugar's advocacy and support for the construction of Market Square Arena in downtown Indianapolis. Market Square Arena served as home court for the Indiana Pacers from 1974 to 1999.
