Plaque from USS Indianapolis Survivors Memorial Organization

The USS Indianapolis Survivors Memorial Organization thanks Mayor Goldsmith for serving as its city chairman. A memorial to the ship (sunk by a Japanese submarine in July 1945) was dedicated in the Canal District on the 50th anniversary of the vessel's sinking.
