W. Paul Alexander to Mayor Lugar, August 1, 1974

Alexander thanks Mayor Lugar for sending him a copy of his "Crisis of Spirit" baccalaureate speech delivered at Indiana University South Bend on May 12, 1974, in which he addressed the Watergate scandal and the issue of the role of morality in public life. Alexander expresses his agreement with Lugar's sentiments, but believes that the White House tapes must have been an even greate disappointment to Lugar than they were to him because Lugar had been so confident in President NIxon's leadership.
