Mayor Lugar at Indianapolis Baptist Temple, Img. 2
Mayor Lugar visits the Indianapolis Baptist Temple. With approximately 8000 members, the IBT was one of the largest churches in the nation in 1970. Pastor Greg Dixon (left) later became a prominent televangelist and clashed with the Internal Revenue Service over the taxation of churches. The Temple was raided by Federal marshals in February 2001 and later demolished.
